BMW Parks it on Daytona Speedway's Podium

BMW kicked off this year's GRAND-AM season with their quintessential BMW Performance 200 race at Daytona International Speedway, in Florida.  BMW entered 16 BMW models into the event's Grand Sport and Street Tuner classes, including the BMW M5, which served as the performance automaker's pace car, and the new BMW 3-Series - just featured at the North American International Auto Show.

BMW was not only  honored but extremely excited to sponsor the 2012 Continental Tire Sports Car Challenge's green-flag event. "As leaders in the performance parts and accessories market, there is no better place to showcase our passion than on the racetrack," 1 elaborates Craig Westbrook, VP Aftersales, BMW of North America.

How did BMW Performance 200 go for the sponsor? Very well. BMW walked away with three podium finishes in two categories: 2nd and 3rd> place in the Grand Sport class and 3rd> place in the Street Tuner class. Not a bad way to start off a new track year, if you ask us.

Driving the winning BMW models were Charles Putman and Charles Espenlaub (M3, 2nd> in Grand Sport), Bryan Sellers and Mark Boden (M3, 3rd> in Grand Sport) and Gregory Lifeooghe and David A. Levine (328i, 3rd> in Grand Sport).
